DESCRIPTION

From the ancient sacred jungles of Tulum, Mexico, comes the muse for this fragrance. Strikingly similar to frankincense, copal – “incense” in Nahuatl is extracted from a variety of trees native to Central and South America. And much like frankincense in Ancient Egypt or Greece, it was burned by the Mayans and Aztecs to “feed” the gods. The perfumer, Bertrand Duchaufour, took this Mayan incense rising from age-old temples and paired it with lashes of sea spray and whiffs of the jungle. The result – a scent that exudes the lush, spiritual vibes of the Mayan Riviera.

The olfactory landscape of Copal Azur is defined by a distinctive mineral note of incense, made from three different extractions of frankincense to conjure it from top to base notes. The strong nuances of the lush paradise are filtered by milky pine-scented wreaths of burning resin, a cool breeze of fresh ozonic and salty notes, a dawning of cardamom in the damp undergrowth of patchouli and myrrh, a touch of almond- scented tonka bean in a creamy note; and lastly, amber which ignites the sacred copal.

Hypnotic, spiritual and haunting, Copal Azur might indeed open the ‘Gate to Heaven’.
